The Americans did not invent the Cherrys jubilant, but the name for these flambéed cherries. They are served in the U.S. especially on holidays. That’s probably why they are called jubilant cherries. They have almost become an American national dish and an integral part of American cuisine.

Melt the jelly in a fireproof pan. Add butter and stir until hot. Add cherries and heat. Heat cherry brandy in a metal ladle over an open flame. Pour onto cherries form. Light and flambé. Burn off alcohol. Divide vanilla ice cream evenly among four servings. Divide flambéed cherries evenly on top and bring to table on the spot.
